Surrounded by historic homes, Summers Run is the cornerstone of a time-honored neighborhood. With an impressive 8 bedrooms and 7.5 baths, this home can easily accommodate a large number of guests. A total of 6 separate suites offer a variety of room configurations, each with their own charm and vintage appeal. The bedrooms consist of 1 first-floor bedroom and bathroom, 4 second-floor suites (one with two bedrooms), and 2 bedrooms in the attic.
The entry is grand and welcoming. A Tea Room off the foyer is a reminder of days-gone-by, when suitors would come to call. Conversely, the adjacent office offers the modern conveniences for those on working vacations who need to stay connected.
The Living Room is well appointed and comfortable, offering a quiet place for friendly gatherings or afternoon tea around the fireplace. The Formal Dining room with fireplace is large and well suited for family holiday feasts at the grand dining table that easily seats twelve. It was in this wonderful room that the first Old Spanish Days Fiesta plans were hatched back in 1924.
Step down from the Library with fireplace and wet bar into the adjacent Sunroom, truly a special gathering place in this intriguing home. Views from this room look over the rose garden to the expansive manicured lawn which is perfect for Bocce Ball or Croquet. There is dining or game playing for 8 at a large round table in this sunny room.
The country kitchen is bright and cheerful and accented with whimsical custom tiles depicting the Santa Barbara Mission and Summers Run itself. Gourmet amenities include stainless steel professional appliances, walk-in pantry, prep sink and built-in TV.
The adjoining breakfast room opens to a private brick patio through French doors. A comfortable family room with a new large television and Bedroom Suite with full bath complete the downstairs floor plan. Just outside the breakfast room is a lovely brick patio complete with dining table and chairs.
Ascend the grand central staircase to the second level with 4 full bedroom suites. Enter the private and spacious Master Bedroom Suite through a sitting area with fireplace. Step down into the sunny private Yoga Room that overlooks the backyard. The adjacent balcony offers one more scenic location for afternoon tea or vacation napping!
The Master Bedroom Suite is luxurious with fine linens, two walk-in closets, antiques and a large fireplace. The main Master Bathroom has a large Jacuzzi tub and Steam Shower, while a smaller second bath, with an original claw foot soaking tub, adds additional convenience.
The other three Suites on this floor are unique, each boasting a King size bed and full baths. There are rain shower heads and hand-held shower heads in all bathrooms. An especially convenient design is two bedrooms that share a Jack and Jill bathroom, one with a King size bed and one with two twin beds, perfect for a young family who want to be close to sleeping children. Another sitting room, an enclosed porch, and a laundry room add to the unique offerings of the second floor.
The clever surprise of this home is the remodeled attic space, once a dance studio and dormitory for visiting children. This upstairs space has two bedrooms. A Family Bedroom with a King size bed plus a twin Trundle bed is perfect for a family with young children who want to be close to Mom and Dad . A second Bedroom offers privacy with a Queen size bed. The Living Room with a new, very large television and full bath and is an awesome space for young guests to feel like they have a place of their own!
Once outside, the backyard becomes a wonderful place to relax, play and entertain with an outdoor kitchen beckoning barbeque fanatics to create. The patio table easily seats 12. The built-in tile hot tub is large and deep and the nearby Gazebo can be a shady play area, or peaceful spot for doing nothing-at-all on your vacation!
